SAT and ACT for Juniors and Seniors

Updated: Nov 26, 2019

When?

Ideally, you should start to take these tests your Junior year starting around December. If you're a senior, you should start by taking at least one of them in October after taking some free practice tests.

Should I take both?

It is recommended to do practice tests for both. You don't know which one you'll do better with unless you try each one.

Costs?

Time

There is one particular day you can sign up for the SAT for free during the school day in October, but you'll need to register ahead of time. Aside from this one day, you'll have to spend weekend time and set aside 4-5 hours including drive time and test taking time.

Money

They can run from $60-$100 depending on the test, fees, and added sections. Along with AP tests, these can total to hundreds of dollars.

*There are scholarships based on financial need for all of these tests, but you must plan ahead to speak with your counselor and fill out certain forms in order to qualify before it's too late.

What to Ask- "Could you please help me with SAT/ACT/AP Test Waivers?"
